Coronavirus Containment

To assist in measures conducted to contain the Coronavirus, by creating awareness and increasing the PCR testing. Though the Government has started regional testing, it needs all the help it can get. Your contribution will allow us to conduct further PCR tests to help shield our communities. High number of daily testing, while implementing social distancing is the crucial element in containing Covid-19, this especially true with the easing of the lockdown. “To be raised every 4 months: Next deadline, August 30”

Benchmarking on the models of countries that succeeded in containing Covid19, the main crucial element was high number of daily testing while implementing social distancing. Creating the buffer zone to around 12% of the population is of utmost importance for the fight against Covid19 in all of Lebanon. As part of the containment, we will support those at the forefront of the battle by supplying masks, gloves, and other safety products. In parallel RMF had donated towards the Rafic Hariri University Hospital and the Lebanese Red Cross, who have been till date the leading players in containment. Containment is our utmost priority and our primary focus for the first phase.

As Lebanon did not take the “Suppression model” as implemented in China, nor does the State have the capabilities to do so as it requires colossal resources, add to it a decentralized approach has proven to be more effective throughout the world.  There’s also the South Korea “Mitigation model” based on 1) high number of testing, 2) segmenting cases (clear, isolation, hospitalization), 3) tracing back and tracking people they came in contact with, to get them tested.

RMF believes that the best way now to tackle this spread is through:

• Increased Awareness
• Decentralized containment policy
• Increase affordable testing at a regional level.

This is where “Ma3an” answers these issues:

• Providing decentralized tests
• Conducting local sample acquisition
• For Free (while in Hospitals, fee ranges between 165,000LL and 250,000LL)

RMF “Ma3an” Containment Campaign will be up and gradually ready in the coming weeks. With your efforts, as a first phase, our containment operation will pilot in:

– The North Governorate: with 5 regions: Koura, Batroun, Dinnuyeh, Zgharta, Beshare.

– As phase two we will add the Governorate of Akkar.

These regions cover around 12% of the national population and include some of the most vulnerable and most underprivileged communities in Lebanon. We have partnered with Balamand University to offer these tests for free and at a local level, in collaboration with municipalities and local authorities, in order cover the widest range possible and limit transportation and exposure.

To enable RMF to carry out and implement this program, we need to raise $65,000/month or $780,000 per year of “Fresh Money”.

• $13/ PCR test kit (including shipping and handling)
• 5,000 PCR test kits

Will need to add around $10,000/month for PPE gears, linked to this operation ($50x200gears/month)

This operation will be audited by Grant Thornton Firm.
